National Bureau of Enforcement held a preventive action titled "Abide by Law" at Liberty Square on 12 May. The action was targeted at informing the population about the outcomes of avoiding to pay administrative penalties. The Deputy Minister of Justice George Vashadze, Deputy Head of NBE Erekle Ghvinianidze, enforcement officers and representatives of Georgian variety art took part in the event. The participants distributed informational promo materials and informed civilians about the feasible problems they might face in case they don't pay administrative penalties within the terms.
Over 28 000 administrative penalties have been executed by NBE up today. There are frequent cases when citizens forget the deadline for paying the penalties and they pay it later than stipulated by the law. Herewith, majority of citizens have no accurate information regarding the terms of paying the penalties. They consider that they can pay them within a month, that is within 31 days, instead of the 30 calendar days. Any penalty paid on the 31st day is considered to be late and the case is delivered to NBE for enforcement.
In case citizens don't pay penalties within the terms, they also have to pay the enforcement due and the fine concerning certain types of penalty. To pay penalties within the terms will enable citizens to evade the commitment to pay any further costs.
